Murders in the double digits
Every Tuesday night a few teenagers who live in John DeShields come to my apartment and we worship, study God's Word and pray for the city of East St. Louis. A few months ago, I was telling the kids that there were 31 murders in ESL in 2007. I told them that we were going to pray that there wouldn't be as many murders in 2008. I didn't give them any specifics as to what to pray. As we were praying one of the boys said, "God I pray that in 2008 the number of murders wouldn't even reach the double digits." We are 4 months into 2008 and there have only been 6 murders. Each Tuesday, we continue to confess and declare over ESL that the number of murders would not reach the double digits. We are believing God that He will do it and that 2008 will be a different year than any other year for this BEAUTIFUL city.
