Will there be a hot meal?
After scheduling Bible studies 4 weeks in a row for the guys (ages 18-25) and having not one of them show up, I decided that there must be a better way to reach them. But, I wasn't sure what that way was. Today, several of the guys were playing dice on the sidewalk near my apartment. I walked out there and began asking them what would bring tham to a Bible study. Their first answer was, "GIRLS." I laughed and assured them that wouldn't be happening. We chatted a little bit and I invited them again to come to the Bible study tomorrow. As I was walking into my apartment, one of the guys said, "Will there be a hot meal?" I told him no. As I walked into my apartment I began complaining to God saying, "Awww, God, do I have to cook? I HATE cooking," grumble, grumble. I looked up and recognized my newly purchased George Foreman grill and heard the words of a friend who had asked me the same food question several days before. Right then, I thought, I can start making hamburgers for them, that's easy! This idea was definitely a God idea, because like I mentioned before, I absolutely hate cooking. So, I stepped back outside and told the young man, "Yes, there will be a hot meal. I'll make hamburgers for you guys." Right after I told him, I suddenly got REALLY excited about cooking. Can't wait to see who shows up!
