You Don’t Know What They’re Like

It was 3am and I heard a knock on my door. It was a lady in the neighborhood who I have a good relationship with. She was very afraid and just needed to talk. She began to share how over the past week two rough looking strangers have knocked on her door looking for a guy who is involved with drug dealing. She knew that this guy they were looking for is one of the guys I serve lunch to on Wednesdays. She began to tell me how I really don’t know what him or the other guys that I serve lunch to are like. I know her heart and that she really was just trying to look out for me, but at the same time I couldn’t just take what she was saying and let it scare or discourage me. Even though I know that these guys are into a lot of trouble and do things that are wrong, I know that they respect me and actually look out for me. Several people in the neighborhood only see these guys as criminals and trouble-makers, which they are…. and I can totally see where they are coming from. But, at the same time they are valuable to God and are like brothers to me. I CANNOT resist the heart of God for them. I truly believe that over time He is slowly softening their hearts and that His kindness will lead them to repentance.
