His eyes lit up...

I have had it on my heart to begin taking some the the high school boys to school once a week, in order to spend extra time with them and pour into their lives. There were some specific boys that God put on my heart to ask. I spoke with two of them in the past two days about it. The first boy who often shows no emotion and always has a tough front, when I asked him I if could take him to school, he grinned and assured me that his Grandma wouldn't mind at all and that I really didn't need to ask her. I will ask her of course, but I thought it cool how he showed his excitement about it in that way. When I approached the second boy, he had a neutral look on his face. But as soon as I mentioned about taking him to school, he smiled so big and his eyes lit up. Taking them to school will only require about one hour of my time each week and it will be such a valuable investment. There is something about getting in the world of a teenager and spending quality with them. It speaks VOLUMES to them, more than words, more than gifts. When you give them time and do it in their world, it makes all of the words you have spoken to them believable. They actually start believing in their own hearts that you love them. I can't wait to see what a difference one hour in the lives of these teen boys will make.
