Trust...

We had a GREAT time with the teens tonight! We broke into small groups and asked them, "What are some ways that adults can build and earn trust with teens?" They opened up and shared valuable information with us. Below are some of the things they said;

• If I've known them for a long time.
• They don't do anything that would make me mad.
• But, if they do something wrong they apologize.
• I have to have a special bond with that person.
• I gotta connect with them.
• If they trust in me and believe in me, I will trust in them.
• When they share things with me about their own life.
• When they understand me.
• Talking about real life stuff with me on a consistent basis.
• They gotta earn my trust.

This time of meeting with them was so precious. I feel that we really got to know them better. We shared our hearts with them... that we want to do our best to build trust with them so they feel safe with us.
