Bearing fruit!

God made my day today! One of the young men who has been in prison showed up at my door today to let me know that he is out and to thank me for everything. He went to jail a year ago and had been one of our regulars on Wednesdays for lunch. We stayed in touch the majority of the time he was in jail. When I saw him, his girlfriend and his baby through that screen door, I was overjoyed! I knew he was getting out soon, but that he just needed to find a place to parole to. But I didn't know he was out of jail until just a few minutes ago. WOW! It just blessed me to see his face. I think I felt like the father of the prodigal son. :) We talked about him staying out of trouble and doing something productive with his time. I told him that I didn't want to get anymore letters from jail and that he better not do anything else to go back there. We all stood in a circle and prayed for their future. Today I saw fruit of the lunch ministry that we do on Wednesdays! I was able to build a relationship with him through serving him lunch every week and then because of that relationship, when he was in jail I was able to write him and speak into his life.
