Hamburger Wednesdays

Last Wednesday was the first time that I cooked for the guys and I loved it! As I cooked, it was a joy to know that I was cooking for the purpose of reaching their hearts for JESUS. But, there was only one disappointment, none of them showed up again. I saw them out on the sidewalk playing dice again, reminded them of the Bible study time, and let them know that I would feed them. Still, no one. So, after having five hamburgers cooked and no guys in my apartment to give them to, I began asking God for ideas. I told him that I would do whatever I needed to in order to reach them. I e-mailed a friend and asked her if she had any ideas. She suggested that I hand deliver the burgers to them while they were playing dice. I was a little hesitant at first because I didn't want the food being brought to them to stop them from coming to the Bible study in the future. I went to where they were playing and asked them what they would like on their hamburgers and they gladly told me. I took food and drinks to them. They were very grateful and even smiled. Later on that day, I realized that this may be what slowly softens their heart. I believe that they need to see that they can trust me and that I love them unconditionally (Bible study or not). Today I took food to them again and I saw a little less of their hardness. One guy who had just eaten said that he didn't want one, but then changed his mind and took one anyways. I think Wednesdays may be my most FAVORITE day of the week now.
