I'm sorry...
This morning a young man I know was knocking on my door to hand me letters from the young man who I visit in prison. I was on the phone so I asked him to hold on a minute. He was getting impatient and kept knocking. It was an important phone call, so I told him to hold on in an irritated tone. A few minutes after he walked away, I felt convicted and that I needed to go apologize to him. I went to his apartment, but he wasn't there. So I asked the young lady there if she would let him know that I was sorry. if she saw him before I did. It felt really good to do that because this young man is usually pretty rude to me. He doesn't believe in JESUS and actually believes in a very strange religion. I believe that God is going to use my apology to break down some walls that are between me and him. What's even better about this apology, is that God returned an apology back to me and it wasn't even from the guy I just mentioned. It was from a 12 year old boy. About 3 nights ago, I was trying to go to sleep and I heard boys yelling really loud across the neighborhood. I stepped outside and firmly told them to stop because it was disruptive at that time of night. They said, "Yes ma'am," stopped yelling and continued on their way. About 20 minutes ago, I just happened to see one of these boys walking outside with two of his friends. He stopped and said, "I'm sorry about the other night." I told him that it was ok and gave him a hug. I couldn't believe it! In all of the times that I have been working with kids, I have never had one apologize to me from their heart like this boy did. Thank you JESUS for tearing down walls!
