A few days ago at the Teen Ministry, God opened the door to encourage the kids about not giving into the violence they are pressured with everyday. As we met in our individual Life Line Groups one of the boys, "Tyrone" who I mentioned in a previous post ("I was so angry") opened up to the leaders of his group. After the Bible study, he asked them to pray for him. Tyrone said that another boy who is older than him, had been threatening him. Because of the threats, Tyrone got a group of his friends together, went to the other boy's neighborhood and beat him up before he had a chance to do the same to them. Tyrone asked the leaders in his Life LIne Group what he should do because he knew that the other boy would seen be retaliating. The fact that he asked the leaders for advice was an answer to prayer. This boy has been hardened lately and hasn't come to the Teen Ministry for months. But this night, he sat in his group and poured his heart out. They encouraged him to go to the boy, apologize to him and trust God for protection. Tyrone was open to this. Lately, as I have seen Tyrone around the neighborhood, his attitude towards me is different now. He seems more receptive and not as hardened as he was before. We are taking a group of 9 kids to a base ball game in a week and Tyrone is going with us. :) I am expecting God to give us opportunities at the game for us to speak into his life and build a stronger relationship with him.
