A life re-directed...
Today after school, the girl I mentioned in the previous post came by my apartment to talk. I will call her Tasha. She is 14 years old. She began pouring her heart out to me and being very transparent and honest. She is raised by her Mom, while her Dad comes around but puts no effort into investing in her life financially or emotionally. She began to tell me how she really feels like no one cares about her because her Mom has said to her and her sisters that she wishes she never had kids. Not to mention that her Mom has told Tasha that her Dad doesn't even like her. She shared with me how she is having a hard time even believing that God is real because of everything going on in her life and this city. She has been thinking a lot about suicide and just wants things to change. She has a relationship with God but there aren't any girls around here that she can relate to. Many of them are getting into trouble, have their focus on boys or pregnant. We prayed together that God would bring a best friend into her life who has a close relationship with JESUS. I listened to her and encouraged her as we talked for about 45 minutes. I gave her an assignment to write in her journal about all of the dreams she has for her future and to begin reading Psalm 139 every day for at least 3 months. I have been asking God to bring people to me who need someone to talk to or just need advice. So, Tasha coming to my door was an answer to prayer. I feel like God really changed some things as we prayed over each area of her life that she shared about. I'm expecting to hear the good things God is doing in her life!
