We had a great time with the teens last Friday! Since we have been using the basketball hoops and meeting outside, several of the boys who used to have walls up towards me are now being friendly when they see me at random times in the neighborhood. For example, I was carrying some items into my apartment yesterday and one of the boys walked over to me and asked if I needed help. He has walked by me many times before as I carryied things into my apartment and has never offered to help. Two days ago a fight broke out between a teen boy and someone else. I walked over towards it to stare them down and to pray. Sometimes just being there makes them stop fighting. I asked his friends what was going on and they didn't have much information. We talked a little bit then most of them began to walk towards the boy who was fighting, but one of the boys said, "I'm staying here with Rachel." His friends decided to stay too. This would have never happened before either. All of this because we simply hung out with teens for a few hours and let them play basketball. God is reaching them through their favorite thing, basketball.
