Nothing will help them...
At 12am this morning I was woken up by laughing and guys talking loudly. I looked out my window and on the sidewalk were about 10 young men (ages 18-25) playing dice. As I looked at them my heart began to ache. All I could see was the hopelessness they try to drown out with dice games, alcohol and drugs. I continued to watch them for about 10 minutes, not out of nosiness, but just observing them and asking God to show me how to reach the core of their hearts. These are the guys that we serve lunch to on Wednesdays. Serving them lunch has opened the door of their hearts to a certain degree, but I know there is more. I know that God wants me to get deeper into their lives. There have been murders that have happened over dice games in this neighborhood, so I after a while I just couldn't allow them to continue playing there. So, I opened my door and asked them to take the game somewhere else. They were very respectful and left. After that night my heart was stirring to seek God about the ministry towards these young men. I have been doing some research and asking God to reveal His vision to me in how to reach them. I asked one of the young men who doesn't seem to be caught up in all of the trouble what will reach them? He asked me if he could think about it and get back with me. About a week later, he came to me and said, "I've been thinking about what you asked me and nothing will reach them." I listened to him, but inside I smiled, because I know those are the challenges that God LOVES! He loves to reach the "unreachable," those that everyone else but Him looks at as a hopeless case. I know they are not unreachable to JESUS and He is going to show me the pathway to their hearts.
