You live over there in Compton...

Yesterday I found out that the side of the neighborhood that I live on is referred to as Compton. For those of you who may not be familiar with Compton. It is infamous for it's crime and one of the worst areas of Los Angeles, California. John DeShields is made up of 29 individual buildings with anywhere from 6-10 apartments in each building. So, that's approximately 230 plus apartments in the neighborhood. There is somewhat of a dividing line in the neighborhood, where one side is much more active, dangerous and loud than the other side. I live on the worst side. If you start at the calmer end and walk towards my end of the neighborhood, once you get past a certain building, you can see the difference. I was talking to a lady on the quiet end end in the background I heard a man say to his friend, "Oh yeah, she lives over there in Compton." Today another person commented on the fact that I live in Compton. I know this sounds crazy but I actually thought it was funny, because to be honest with you even though it's the worst end, I feel very safe. And it just feels normal to live here. THANK YOU JESUS!
