Tender hearts...

Recently there was some shooting on the main street in front of John DeShields. No one was killed but three young men were injured, two were shot in the leg and one in the stomach. As time goes on, I see more and more clearly why God had me start something as simple as serving the young men lunch. Because of this simple act of service, it has been a door way into the hearts and of these guys that are involved in so much darkness. I have only been able to see one of them since then because often when these kinds of things happen, people go into hiding mode at least for a month or so. One of the young men who were shot had just come the week before to play basketball after lunch one Wednesday. After that day, he has been so much more open to me, yelling hi at me from across the street, when most of the time if the guys are in a group of friends they put on the tough exterior because they want to look cool in front of their friends. He even apologized for cussing in front of me when before he wouldn't have even noticed it was coming out of his mouth. Thank you God for tender hearts.

Saw several posts and no comments. Just wanted to leave a mark, say that I read, and really am encouraged by your ministry. You've always had such a huge heart, and that's the biggest impression you make on people that they remember for years on after. Fight the good fight, Rachel.
