From hateful to kind...

This morning as I was prayer walking I passed by a young man who came for a hamburger for the first time last Wednesday. As we passed by each other we both smiled real big and said good morning to each other. After I walked past him, it hit me that about six months ago, this same young man was breathing threats at me. This morning, this incident all flashed back to me. Some time in October, I was prayer walking and another young man in the neighborhood stopped me and asked for prayer. The threat breathing guy, walked up to us and was yelling at me. As he approached me and the young man who asked for prayer, I was praying about what to do. He continued threatening me and even grumbled something about cutting off my cheek because my blush was too bright. I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to just ignore this man and pray in tongues as I listened to the one who needed prayer. As I did this, he stopped with the threats and started asking me questions about God. There was still a bit of disrespect in his tone and attitude, so I continued to ignore him. Last Wednesday, this same young man yelled from the building across from mine telling me in a disrespectful way to save him a hamburger. I told him that I'm not giving him anything if he's going to ask me like that. Shortly after this one of his friends came by and asked, "Can he get a hamburger?" Since he was standing right there by his friend, I asked him, "Do you want a hamburger?" and he said no. Then about 10 minutes later, he knocked on my door and asked kindly and respectfully for a hamburger. Oh my goodness, it was so funny! He really did want one all along, but he just wanted to get it by demanding it. But I wouldn't let him have it that way. I believe something happened last Wednesday, and because I stood up to him, he respects me now. So, all of that to say when I saw him this morning and he was respectful and kind again, I was in shock. I'm so thankful to God because how he feels about me now is much different from how he felt about me back in October. To go from breathing hateful, injurious threats, to saying good morning with a smile, WOW! Thank you JESUS!
